Last summer, I was working as a graphic design intern at UNDP, and have been able to carry out my work through effective communication with other staff members. From this experience, I have learned that when it comes to design work, the most important thing is to gauge the needs and intentions of the client, quickly come to grips with them, and then produce a design in an appropriate and simplistic form. Furthermore, because the department that I worked in was devising a private sector fundraising strategy, I dealt with an extremely large amount of complex data. As well as creating infographics for presentation materials, I produced booklets and other documents that explain in an easy-to-understand manner the UNDP and its member state partnerships – all of which were very well received by staff.
